Steph's mom was actually pretty okay. she is a mom, after all, so she had her moments, but she also bought us a bunch of food and cleaned the ferret cage. as far as I'm concerned, she can come over anytime she wants. it's not like I listened to her motherly advice and admonitions anyway.
yesterday was awesome. Robbie crashed here, and the plan was to get up, go to Denton to get registered for classes, get tires, come back to Lewisville and go to Ikea with Steph. we slept too late and I missed my advisor's hours, so we went to Olive Garden instead. mm Olive Garden. drove to Denton to the Discount Tire Company, where "Cody" proceeded to make me feel like a girl. I am, so I can't be too pissed, but he didn't listen to what I wanted until Robbie walked up behind me. he translated from girl to meathead for Cody, and we were in business. two new tires, replace both driver's side, put the new ones on the front. I'm almost certain that's what I said, but whatever. got 'em, came back to Lville, got inebriated, and went to Ikea.
oh, Ikea, how I adore thee. Steph and I found a coffee table we love because it's ever so sexy. I'm going to get equally sexy cubby/drawer things for all my fabric so I can clear off the damn dining room table. we only got a Tracy-proof butter dish and a french press, which I think shows incredible restraint on our parts.
came back to the apartment, Robbie and I watched a couple episodes of West Wing and traded backrubs, then I headed to Denton to see Chelleby. we went to WalMart to look at patterns and fabric for her Renaissance dress (my audition for making her a much more important dress someday), but their selection of fabric really sucked. we'll have to hit an actual fabric store to look when I can get to town on time.
then, every single Sonic in Denton thwarted us in our efforts to bring slushes for the whole pack back to the den. I thought all Sonics were open until at least midnight, but upon further reflection, I think that might have been summer hours only. we had already called the house and gotten Chris and Mary all excited about Sonic, so we hit Whataburger and the QT to try and put together a reasonable facsimile. I had serious problems with the black cherry Freezoni machine, but we managed.
came home, fell asleep to Harold & Kumar, and slept the sleep of the just (er something).
good day off.
in Panera news, the new GM Alex seems decent, if not a little hardassed. she's only 28, so she's young, she's kinda hot, and she doesn't have any specific plans to immediately change everything. I had a dream that when I introduced myself to her, all she said was "do something about all those piercings." to which I said, "is that really the first thing you're going to say to me before you even introduce yourself? fuck that, then, I quit." luckily, this did not happen. it even sounds like Justin showed up yesterday to help her. red-letter day. we'll just play it by ear from here, I guess. I really don't want to try and find another job. nowhere else is going to pay me as much to do as little.
oooh. Odwalla B Berrier rocks. good call, Chelleby.
better go wash my hair and get ready for work.
